Birmingham City Breaks and Things You Should Know

Currently growing numbers tourists are looking for new holiday destinations which afford something utterly different or, at least something rather than the usual holiday on a beach. In the present climate many groups of folk are, alarmingly realizing that they have severely reduced funds for expenditure on a family holiday and are, obviously, forced to shaving corners to save money. One way of meeting this requirement is to seek out a cheaper resort. In the article below I introduce you to the British city of Birmingham. With the British pound so weak against the dollar and euro hotel accommodation in Birmingham much cheaper than in previous decades.
Birmingham is a city in the English county called the West Midlands and the folk who live in the city are referred to as being “Brummies”. Birmingham’s dialect is a strong northern English sounding accent and it can be very difficult to understand fully what is being discussed a problem which is made worse if if you are unfamiliar with such accents. Thankfully Brummies are polite, helpful and kind and try their best to explain so if the need arises do not hesitate to approach people about directions and help or guidance in choosing Birmingham bed & breakfast.
Birmingham has an excellent collection of places to visit and things to do including some interesting and informative galleries and museums, such as the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Barber Institute of Fine Arts, Museum of the Jewellery Quarter and the Thinktank in the Eastside. The city also possesses an impressive number of square miles of parks, woodland and open spaces, Sutton Park being the largest having 970 hectares making it the largest urban nature reserve in the whole of the UK and Europe.
Birmingham possesses a wide ranging and vibrant night scene with a large number restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs. You will discover many in one of the city’s squares, Victoria Square, Centenary Square, Rotunda Square, St Martin’s Square, the historic Old Square at Corporation Street, Chamberlain Square and the Gas Street Basin. Gas Street Basin is the hub of Birmingham’s intricate network of canals. Birmingham has about 32 miles of canal waterways with between eight canals which were dug during the eighteenth century and remained in industrial use nearly until the end of the twentieth century. These days the area has been renovated and is now a pretty decent visitor attraction.

If you If you are considering taking a Birmingham vacation you should be aware that Birmingham International Airport is roughly eight miles from the center of the city just off the A45 and near the M42 (junction 6). You will find a useful number of hotels nearby the airport.
