What Are The Options When Looking For Student Accommodation In The UK?

    By OnTopic | June 24, 2010

When students start at university, one of the biggest considerations they have is their accomodation. For example, student accomodation Nottingham has become more and more widespread and so the choice for students is greater than ever before.

Many halls of residence are owned and run by a university like Nottingham, and these are a popular choice for new students who might not yet know anyone else in the university. The students are able to meet with many other students and make friends in this kind of halls and these halls have single or shared rooms all in one complex. The most typical accomodation that is catered is the halls of residence, but there are also self-catering facilities. They also have laundry that is one of the shared facilities.

In Nottingham student accommodation Beeston is very popular but the accomodation is also set in many different areas of a city.

As well as university owned accomodation there are also privately owned halls of residence. These are much the same as the university ones although they are often self-contained studio apartments without centralised catering being laid on. These are often appealing to those wanting a slightly more modern type of accomodation as they tend to have been built in recent years during which student accomodation has really seen a boom.

Most students have made friends after their first year at the university and decide to live with their friends on their second and third years. When this happens, the students look to move into a house that has multiple rooms such as student apartment or student house. These sorts of houses and apartments are often inspected and accredited via the university housing office so as to ensure a certain level of quality.

This is because In previous years student accomodation in Nottingham was a very poor quality and safety standards were often not adhered to either.

Finally, some shorter term university students such as foreign students and exchange students may seek to get hotel accomodation or they may also be able to secure short lets in student houses and accomodation which haven’t been let out for the full academic year.
