    Choosing An Oak Baseboard Installer

    By OnTopic | September 1, 2010

Baseboard is more than just a floor protector; it is also a decorative finishing piece. You can choose all sorts of baseboard materials and looks, but the most commonly used baseboard material is oak. What is great about oak baseboard is that it will hold up over time and it looks really good in any room. However, to ensure the quality and appearance of the baseboards, you’ll need to have them installed correctly.

Finding someone to install your oak baseboard may be just as easy as asking your friends and peers for a good recommendation on a contractor. You may find it that you aren’t getting very many recommendations and in a case like that you’ll need to find more candidates to add to your list. You can always look through the phonebook for additional candidates to round out your list. You want to look for candidates listed under finishing contractors for this type of work.

You need to have a list of three to five candidates before you move on to the next step. Now, before you think this is too much work for simple baseboard installation, keep in mind that following these steps is what you should do no matter what sort of contractor you are hiring for. Understanding that, you will next need to make a list of questions you will ask each of the candidates.

One of these three may be suitable: mdf skirting boards
    pine skirting boards
    Oak Skirting Boards

When you meet with each of the candidates on your list it will be important that you come prepared with a list of questions. You need to create this list in advance of your meeting. While other questions will come to mind during the meeting, you will need to know that there is a list of things you want to find out from each candidate. Asking each candidate the same list of questions is very important and should not be overlooked. Once you have reviewed their bids and their references and have met with each candidate, you should be able to make your decision.
