Home Organization Tips to Help You Clean in Less Time

    By OnTopic | July 2, 2009

Most people don’t enjoy cleaning house. Unless you’re like Monica on Friends, it’s just a necessary part of life. It’s not fun, but it has to be done. There are a few home organization tips for cleaning that can help trim that time down and make cleaning easier.

Unless your house is small, it is simpler to have duplicate cleaning products. Keep one set for upstairs and one for downstairs. Even if you live in a one story house, keeping cleaning products in each bathroom can save you time. This keeps you from having to go back and get something that you may have forgotten.

Another idea is to keep cleaning products in a bucket and take it with you as you clean. Use a multipurpose cleaner when possible. This will lessen the amount of cleaners that are necessary.

In each room, store the products you would use there somewhere in that room if it’s possible. For example, don’t keep bathroom cleaning products under the kitchen sink. It is more convenient to keep cleaning products in the room where they are needed rather than all in one place.

Cleaning products should always be stored out of the reach of children. Always keep them high, out of reach or in a locked cabinet. Make sure the lock on the cabinet is durable if you decide to keep them in a locked cabinet. A preschooler can figure out the pressure release lock. If you decide to carry the bucket of cleaners as you go, take caution around children to keep it out of their reach.

These are just a few home organization tips to make cleaning quicker. The kinds of products you have and where you store them can lessen your cleaning time.
