Ride in Style with the New Infiniti Convertible
By OnTopic | December 26, 2009
For all those people who have been whining for years about the unwillingness of Infiniti to bring us a convertible version of the coupe, shut your mouth because the new 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible is now here! The M30 was the first shot Infiniti took at building a luxuruy convertible.
The convertible gets a larger trunk to accomodate the roof, aluminum trim, and special sport seats. The Convertible is jam packed with accessories like, Bose Open Air audio system with thirteen speakers (and a couple in the headrest), a wind deflector, pop-up rollbars, optional heated and cooled seats, and automatic adjusting climate control. Bose is always at the pinnacle of sound and the system designed for the G37 uses digital signals and nosie cancelling speakers to adjust for nosie when the top is down. Rear body panels differ from the regular coupe model, this includes a tonneau cover which covers the retractable convertible top. Did we mention the top takes about 30 seconds to put down and up.
Nissan engineers did a great job of modifying the chassis, suspension, panels, and trunk area to adapt the car as a convertible. A reatractable hardtop, tonneau cover, and necessary motors cause the G37 convertible to gain a bit of weight. At over 400 pounds. heavier that the coupe and over 100lbs. greater than the BMW 335i drop-top.
Engine wise, the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible has a 3.7L V6 engine producing 327hp and 267lb.lb-ft torque. Available with a excellent six-speed manual included in the sport package or a 7 speed auto. The convertible also includes 19-inch rolling stock, enhanced brakes, and sport-tuned steering. The G37 comes with F1 style paddle shifters. Brand spanking new this G37 Convertible will set you back a cool 44k.Upgrade to a stick shift for some more money.
