Learning Photography Basics: Focus, Focus, Focus

Usually, when someone looks at a picture of a person or an animal, they immediately look for the eyes. It is probably the most important and outstanding feature and it can speak across to a viewer. If the eyes are not focused, the picture looks flat, lifeless, uninteresting.
One basic technique to learning photography is if the whole body cannot be focused on properly, and then go for the eyes. The eyes will give an image a character that will connect to the viewer. When using a traditional lens, not the auto focus type, learn to slowly adjust it until the focus is just right. If it is too much, the picture may not come out as expected and it could just disappoint the photographer.
Another interesting aspect of focusing is to imply a depth perception into an otherwise one dimensional media. With focus, a nearer object could look further than an object that is behind it as the lens was made to lean on the further image.
