Learning Photography Basics: Focus, Focus, Focus

    By OnTopic | June 22, 2010

Usually, when someone looks at a picture of a person or an animal, they immediately look for the eyes. It is probably the most important and outstanding feature and it can speak across to a viewer. If the eyes are not focused, the picture looks flat, lifeless, uninteresting.

One basic technique to learning photography is if the whole body cannot be focused on properly, and then go for the eyes. The eyes will give an image a character that will connect to the viewer. When using a traditional lens, not the auto focus type, learn to slowly adjust it until the focus is just right. If it is too much, the picture may not come out as expected and it could just disappoint the photographer.

Another interesting aspect of focusing is to imply a depth perception into an otherwise one dimensional media. With focus, a nearer object could look further than an object that is behind it as the lens was made to lean on the further image. In the case of capturing wedding photography it is very important to know wedding photography tips as it helps a lot in the wedding photography process.

Another use of the technique will be the concentration of a particular detail. Like the face of a woman. If the woman has a pretty face, it can be just like any picture of a pretty woman and can be forgettable. It becomes fascinating if the eyes of the woman are made to stand out from the rest of the features, eyes that may be unusual.

Focusing, however, has become elementary with new technology. Most of the photographs seen nowadays are most likely Photoshopped to the point that a photograph seen in its final development may not look like the one that had been originally taken by the photographer.

The important part in photography process is the use of camera and the type of camera. It is very important to know the techniques and tricks of handling digital camera. You must learn some digital camera tips before capturing any digital photography.

To make a connection with the viewer of the pictures, catch their attentions by directing their eyes on a single detail that is made to stand out from the rest of the image.
